The story, a tale of political and amorous intrigue in Beirut, is based on one of Pierre Benoit's novels, " La châtelaine du Liban," and the film exploits the scenic backgrounds of the novel, Beirut, Palmyra and the Syrian Desert. A young captain in the Camel Corps. goes mad when he finds himself on the point of selling his country's secrets to get the money to satisfy the enchantress whose mysterious activities are concerned with espionage. The captain's eventual return to his Camel Corps. and the desert provides the opportunity for a fight with Bedouins, which marks the dramatic climax of the film.

His double behaves very badly, while the real Onésime suffers the consequences.

The captioning says it's a new '101 horsepower car'--this, during an age when the horsepower of cars actually was between 4-30 horsepower! So, in other words, it's supposed to be a super-fast car.

For some time now, Sosthène, clerk at the Grand Laundromat of Papillon-sous-Bois, has been in love with Alphonsine, the girl who brings the laundry. One evening, he decides to win the heart of his beloved, who until now has been cruel and deaf to his fiery declarations, and if necessary, he'll kidnap her. Hidden at the edge of the woods, when Alphonsine goes by, Sosthène rolls through the grass until he lands at the beauty's feet, proclaiming his love in a deranged voice: "Be mine, or die!", "You idiot!". Blood rushes to Sosthène's head. His breath becomes so ragged that it can be heard a mile away, catching the attention of the famous detective Zigoto who was walking Bouboule, his no less famous police dog.

Onésime needs to take care of an infant and does everything he can to avoid that responsibility.

This relatively straightforward dramatic biography was one of two films commissioned to honor Joan of Arc on the 500th anniversary of her death, but it was soon undeservedly relegated to obscurity in favor of Carl Dreyer's triumphant 'La Passion de Jeanne d'Arc'. The comparison is unfair: Dreyer was an artist, but director Marco de Gastyne certainly proved himself a distinguished craftsman, and his emphasis on the Maid of Orléans early life in Domrémy serves as a picturesque, matching bookend to Dreyer's impassioned courtroom drama.

Up goes the anxious Calino and his officious mother and sister only to find, upon ransacking each trunk, a furious African lion emerge. The hungry beasts pursue the trio in full haste and the complications and situations encountered are unusually comical. Calino never pays the board bill.

In this mystery, a nouveau-riche Frenchman returns to his Parisian home after finding a fortune in Africa. He is looking for a wife and begins advertising in the newspaper. Instead he finds himself victimized by con-artists.

Difficulties ensue when Calino and Onésime get married on the same day, in the same registry office.

Sarkani, an adventurer, finds a trusted carrier pigeon, takes possession of the code message and, teaming up with the unscrupulous banker Torenthal, gets the position of secretary from Matthias Sandorff. After deciphering the message, he discovers a conspiracy against the government. By law, Thorenthal and Sarkani receive half of Sandorff's fortune. His kidnapped daughter was raised by Thorenthal as his own child, and in order to keep her share of the fortune, he tries to marry her off to Sarkani, but she is in love with the son of one of Sandorff's friends and refuses. Sandorff takes over the fisherman who betrayed him, as well as the banker who lost his fortune in Monte Carlo. Together with Sava's beloved, whom he cured, they save Sava and take Sarkani into their own hands. Sandorf surrenders them to the legitimate authorities, unites his daughter and her lover, and everyone lives happily on the island of Zord.

Just as the streets to hell, to hear it from the travelers, are paved with good intentions, the illustrious police officer Zigoto's brain is full of the most commendable initiatives. While passing before a door, he sees a piece of rope underneath and thinks it his duty to bend down and pick it up. The young engineer Larzac, newly appointed to the mine, will soon oppose the authoritarian and conservative methods of his superior Dubard. Georges Gohelle would like to marry Marie Bréhard, but housing difficulties thwart their plans. Brezza, a Polish immigrant, who must return to his country, would like to hate his marriage to Louise Gohelle. Roger, Marie's little brother, has just turned 14. He does not want to go down to the mine as his elders have always done. He will however have to resign himself to it. Marles evokes for him the social struggles of 1906. Roger is injured during a landslide. In front of his family and his friend Marles, who had come to the hospital, he announced his decision to continue his profession. Larzac, invited to the Marles, reveals that he refused a quiet position at the Charbonnages de Paris. He too stays.

1920, in a small village in Provence. Monsieur Pascal, a young schoolteacher, is faced with a lack of interest from his pupils. He decides to radically change the methods employed by his predecessor. He listens to the children, draws inspiration from their discoveries and takes them out into nature. The pupils will rediscover the pleasure of learning, and he will rediscover the pleasure of teaching. But some parents and notables don't take kindly to this little revolution.

The aunt of Alfred Puc, a meek tax-collector in Paris, dies while riding in a moving van. The driver, not wishing to be bothered by a police interrogation, hides her corpse in a cupboard before notifying Alfred. But the van is stolen. Alfred, being the heir of a rich lady, begins a frantic search to locate the missing van and the cupboard because one can't claim an inheritance if there is no 'corpus delecti.' In his search, he gets caught up in an underworld web and finds the body of a murdered gangster in his room. He finally locates the cupboard but promptly loses it again. But, wait, it isn't "finis' time, yet.

Elisabeth D'Anthar cheats on her husband François with Simon De Chabre. François, who suspects something, surprises his rival and wounds him. Elisabeth 's sister, to save the situation, claims that Simon is actually in love with her and came to see her. They have to get engaged and Simon breaks up with his lover. But Elisabeth is not prepared to accept it, and she becomes the head of a gang of "drivers" in order to kidnap her husband. Famous Vidocq intervenes.

Ernest Bourbon discovers that a shower of gold coins fall from his donkey's hindquarters -- I've phrased that as politely as I can. Now rich, he moves to the city, dresses well and hires servants. Unlike the one about the goose that lays the golden eggs, he treats his benefactor well, even though the donkey doesn't seem to enjoy the process.

A crime has been committed by the Trembleur gang, which specializes in jewelry thefts. The Berlin police are on the trail of the mysterious leader. Thanks to a cunning policeman posing as a member of a rival gang, the bandits are trapped in a suburban villa.

Ernest Bourbon gets a bust delivered. Eduoard Grissolet visits him and rhapsodizes over it. Then Bourbon is taken to the loony bin, where they perform some extreme slapstick on him. He escapes, heads home, crawls into bed. The police break in. They take him to an interrogation room and push him out a window.

Seated comfortably in the green pastures near his home, Batty Bill is suddenly presented with a baby, but with his usual dull wits he is slow to realize the catastrophe that has befallen him. When he does so, the giver of this great gift has disappeared. Poor Batty Bill endeavors to leave the baby everywhere, but without success. Ultimately he is, as he thinks, more successful, and is able to give the baby over to the police. A little later he is about to be married, when the police come and insist upon him taking his child. The indignation of his prospective wife is very amusing, and the whole thing causes a great joke from end to end.

The fact that the Four Arts Club were organizing an international competition of modern dances was welcome news to Simple Simon. When he ascertained that the dances would include the Cake Walk, Serpentine Crawl. Piccadilly Flop, Tango, the Wriggly Wriggle, and the Bear Dance, he selected the latter. Simon resolved to seek a teacher in its native haunts. He wandered up the mountainside and chanced upon a strolling Bruin, which he decided to capture. Learning to dance in the ordinary way holds sufficient excitement for most people. Simon, however, found that the bear dance provided unsuspected thrills. He made rapid progress, so much so in fact he won the prize.

Batty Bill has some bachelor apartments. He also has a friend, who has fallen in love. These lovers adjourn to Batty Bill's apartments, where unfortunately for Batty Bill, they are traced by the wrathful father, who spites his wrath on the furniture and contents. While doing this, he is discovered by Batty Bill, who, in his humble endeavors to stop the damage, becomes himself the object of the father's fury and is chased through all sorts of ridiculous mix-ups, from roof to roof and through shops alike.

When the commander of a cruiser ,which sank in a confrontation,is tried for negligence, will the wife speak up in his defense? Unknown to him, she was trapped in the cabin below with her former lover, a subordinate officer.
