Biography
Carlos Vilardebó was a Franco-Portuguese film director and screenwriter known for his work in documentary and short films. After studying in Paris, he began his career as an assistant director for notable filmmakers such as Jacques Becker, Julien Duvivier, and Agnès Varda. Vilardebó directed several acclaimed short films, including La petite cuillère (1960), which explores the cultural significance of a spoon in ancient Egyptian rituals. He also directed Calder's Circus (1961), a documentary capturing Alexander Calder's miniature circus performances. His work is characterized by a keen interest in art and culture, often highlighting the intersection of visual art and film.
