This film is an expression of the way of life of adolescents as told from the point of view of the teenagers themselves as they rebel against the world of adults. Susan (Nunu Datau), Dody (Adjie Massaid) dan Rini (Cornelia Agatha) are students at SMA 2000. They have unconsciously formed a kind of gang. The film follows the activities of these young people while they are in school, on holiday, and just hanging around. The film focuses on Rini, nicknamed “tomboy”, an expert in karate who dreams of being a martial arts master and hero.

Bullied and slandered by the naughty kids, Galang, the smartest boy in class, is branded as a troublemaker by the teachers and the headmaster. Her introduction to the drug-scene engulfs her and she develops a cocaine habit which rapidly accelerates into a preference for White China heroin. She meets and falls in love with Rajibs ex drug-dealing partner, Vela, who has already become a hardcore junkie. Her and Vela's downward spiral into chronic addiction is portrayed powerfully throughout the film as is their intense attachment to each other. The plot (based on a true story) is exceptional in its depiction of the drug problems in Indonesia, the often terrible 'solutions' to these problems, and the reasons behind why they occur.

Si Doel Anak Sekolahan is an Indonesian soap opera produced, written and directed by Rano Karno who also plays the main character as Doel/Kasdullah. This soap opera has a storyline about the life of Doel and his family, a Betawi family who still maintain traditional values even though they live in the midst of the current modernization of urban Jakarta.[1] In addition to Rano, this soap opera also stars Benyamin Sueb, Maudy Koesnaedi, Cornelia Agatha, Aminah Cendrakasih, Mandra, Suti Karno and Basuki.
Consisting of 6 seasons and 139 episodes, the story is a modern version of the novel Si Doel Anak Betawi by Aman Datuk Majoindo and the film of the same name directed by Sjumandjaja in 1972. In the film version, Rano Karno also plays the role of little Doel and Benyamin S. plays Doel's father. It's just that at that time, Doel's father's name was Asman, not Sabeni like the soap opera version.
