Set in the suburbs of Cairo in the late 1930s, the story follows a middle-class Egyptian family grappling with the hardships of life after the death of their father, their sole breadwinner. The mother and her four children—three brothers and their sister, Nefisah—struggle to avoid slipping into poverty. They all go in different directions which aren't exactly good.

The life paths of the family of Mr. Ahmed Abdel Gawad during the period of the British occupation, and before the outbreak of the 1919 revolution, starting with the family's patriarch who lives a double life, his son Fahmy who joins a secret political organization, and the older son Yassin who follows his father's footsteps in pursuing women.

Othman gets arrested for fishing in a protected area, but the prince's daughter intervenes to exempt him. A genie than appears to Othman and tells him the story of his adopted son Morgan.

Corruption is rampant in the ministry, where one of the capitalists drives everyone to falsify import permits for himself, until three new girls are appointed to work there, and each of them takes a different path.

At the door of Al-Hadra prison, three musicians gather in front of the prison, waiting for their friend out of prison, (Amin) who is just heading to an abandoned house to meet his friend (Joseph) the gang leader, and asking him for his right to the crime for which he entered the prison, gives him ten thousand A pound of clothes that he stole from (Nadia), (Youssef) asks him to know the location of the money that (Nadia) stole, and to get closer to her. (Amin) goes with his music colleagues to (Nadia) and asks her to work with her.

Afaf is a psychopath, who escapes from her Samnoudi husband on her wedding night, then later meets with two other people and agrees with each of them separately to marry, but she escapes when the moments of the Qur’an come, and the same behavior is repeated with the fourth from which she also escapes, and husbands begin to present Communications on charges of polygamy.

Ashraf Hamdi works as a supporting actor, and lives a peaceful life, but he leaves his only friend Saeed and his lover and colleague Faiza on the day he signed a contract to play a leading role opposite the great singing star Samia Fouad. Two young men, Ahmed and Mohamed, who live in Port Said, develop feelings for the same girl, Najaf. However, when the Tripartite Aggression reaches Port Said, they abandon life trivialities and join the militants as Najaf joins the Red Crescent; the three unite for a single patriotic cause.

An Egyptian businessman lives in Lebanon with his spoiled son Adel and his reckless daughter Zizi. Zizi loves the young man Mahmoud who works in her father's company, but he loves the new employee Samia. Adel proposes to her and she accepts and they marry, but he lives with her in doubt because he feels that she still loves Mahmoud.
