Kaspar is dealing with the loss of his mother by playing with his imaginary friend Pixi. When Pixi offers him a way to see his mother again, Kaspar embarks on a journey that takes him into a dark world he may never return from.

Charlotte, a writer, has secluded herself to a Mediterranean island in order to work on her new novel. She is looking for inspiration from her surroundings, like her neighbor Robert whose relationship is showing first signs of wear. Yet, the ideal model for the protagonist of her novel, an astronaut’s wife, seems to be her landlady Renate. Charlotte starts to delve into the life of Renate and the more she keeps immersing herself, the more she is confronted with her own painful history.

Erik, a German man, meets with Thu, the mother of his deceased lover, Minh. Thu wants to bring Minh's ashes back to Vietnam, but Erik is not ready for that just yet.
