Valerie Cassel Oliver is curator of modern and contemporary art at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Previously she was senior curator at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston in Texas. Cassel's work is often focused on representation, inclusivity and highlighting artists of different social and cultural backgrounds.
