The story is about two old men. One day they are invited to a friend’s wedding. On the wedding day, not knowing what present to give, they randomly decide to take the sofa from the courtyard. They steal a car, get the sofa on the top and hit the road. Little do they know, about the troubles this sofa would cause them.
A thirty-year old woman, wanting a child, decides to apply for a husband through a marriage agency. She finds one in Andrei, a boastful and patriarchal veteran of the Afghan war. They struggle financially, and after meeting up with an old war buddy, Andrei disappears. Galina is bereft, pregnant, lost. What will become of her as the country is torn apart by civil war?

The middle-aged couple prepare a traditional feast for their niece, Olga, and her husband, Ivan, who are visiting home after living in the USA for four years. When the hosts realize their guests have turned themselves vegan and will not eat anything on the table, the celebration becomes carnage.
Two friends make a bet that Valera won’t milk Ana’s goat. In the night they come drunk and break into Ana’s yard. Ana tries to stop them and becomes their victim.
