"Chambu Gabale" is a 1989 classic Marathi movie starring Laxmikant Berde, Sukanya Kulkarni, Rekha Rao, Chittaranjan Kolahtkar, Machindra Kambli and Deepak Shirke. The movie is directed by Shivdas Ghodke.
School teacher Shankar Jagdale is newly transferred to the village without knowing that it's haunted by a ghost, and hasn't seen a marriage or a child birth in the entire decade gone by. While Shankar tries to get married to the girl he likes, he gets to know that the ghost is the reason behind the village's present situation, and also that the ghost has threatened to interfere and make a mockery of his marriage programs, if he doesn't get the ghost married before him.
Naralwadi Sarpanch Vishwasrao is father of two daughters and has huge estate but his mother wants a grandson who in future can take care of their estate. Vishwasrao reasons that he being Sarpanch of village does not have enough time to spend with his wife so his mother prays that he should lose the election.
Rajaaka (Akkasaheb) and Hindurao Inamadar are married for 12 years but are still childless, following which Akka wants Inamdar to marry another lady but he denies the prospect all the time. Inamdar has a lot of respect in his village and has helped many people. His friend Sethji notices that he is not the same Inamdar he used to be and discusses with other friends Badarmrao and Danger. Inamdar finds that its not Akka but him who can't bear a child which has left him distressed.
