Kim Vinnell is an international journalist, host and moderator. She is currently the host of Reuters flagship global daily podcast, Reuters World News. She leverages her years in the field to ask the right questions, with the grasp that can only come from having on the ground presence.
Previously a senior anchor with Al Jazeera English, Kim covered major events spanning the globe; from the elections which brought Donald Trump and later Joe Biden to office, to the Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan, to the Ukraine war.
As an international correspondent Kim was on the ground covering conflict in Syria, Eastern Ukraine and Iraq. She covered the fallout from the 2014 war in Gaza from Israel, and told the stories of the Mediterranean migrant crisis from Italy.
Prior to Al Jazeera English, Kim was an anchor for TRT World in Turkey, a freelance correspondent covering East Africa from Tanzania, and was a senior correspondent for TVNZ and TV3 in New Zealand. She is a proud kiwi of Māori descent, with Ngāti Toa whakapapa (lineage), and is dedicated to amplifying indigenous stories and voices.
