Yasmin Van Deventer is an American actress, producer, and writer of Iranian origins, based between Paris and Los Angeles. Her most recent acting gig was in the marvelous lynchian film, La Bête by Bertrand Bonello. Her production company, One Thousand & One Nights Productions, LLC, is now in pre-production on two shorts and a feature - a film she's co-writing and that's based on her play, Details my Mother Left out. The piece takes inspiration from her mother's life story - from her flight from Iran at the height of the 1979 Revolution to the secret details of her past she never spoke of while she was living.
Yasmin is active in the theatre in both France and the United States.
She grew up in California, where she trained at the Berkeley Rep and ACT during her childhood and youth. After college, she worked in Haiti and Martinique with artists and poets. She later went on to found and run a non-profit called Singa in Montréal, focused on creating synergies around shared passions and projects in the arts between refugees and other locals.
