Once upon a time... a long time ago... I was raised in a suitcase. I was lying in the suitcase and could only see the sky. White clouds and endless blue surrounded me. Sometimes the clouds quietly passed by me and I sank into their whiteness, and sometimes they turned into dragons and began to fight in the sky, advancing towards each other, grappling, their heads fell in battle, but in their place others immediately grew, and blue showed through their wounds...

Three young couples, who live almost like one family, are isolated from the external world. They are on the edge of breaking their relationship. Nobody is happy with this, but nobody tries to change anything.

A couple and their teenage son eke out a living on a hilltop, doing the laundry for local hotels, despite the intermittent water supply. Their simple life is overturned by the arrival of a father-and-daughter team of diviner and well-digger, who promise to bring an end to this precarious existence by finding a source on their arid hill. But ultimately, these newcomers quench a thirst far greater than than the simple need for water.

1876. The Turks murder the parents of the 14-year-old Rali. His only relative is sentenced to life imprisonment in the Asian fortress. Rali walks after the condemned men. After a long and painful road, he reaches the fortress. He finds help from the old man and his daughter. With their assistance, he organizes the escape of the condemned. After numerous adventures the fugitives reaches the motherland. They enlist in a Bulgarian rebel army together with the Russian soldiers of the Russian-Turkish War for the freedom of Bulgaria.

In the old houses of a mountain village, intellectuals from the capital city have settled down. One of the settlers, a notorious bohemian and joker, left a funeral screenplay and video recordings directing his farewell to life. Nobody is aware that he has purchased a burial plot in the cemetery with a rock underneath it. While building his tomb, his confessions, memories and jokes are flowing from the improvised film shows at the local pub and the mourning ceremony evolves into a bash.

Magic alone can unravel this knot of destinies... And then, there is the Gypsy tale of the black swallow and how it came to be.

Slavi takes up drinking and gets into trouble with the Bulgarian militia (police) because of his family background. This is when he decides to defect to the West. After staying at a refugee camp in Austria and another desperate love, he sets out to the United States. There Slavi makes some new friends who help him buy a truck. He hits the roads of America, where he comes across an Indian who sells him an arrow. The vender tells him this amulet will bring his love back. Eventually, Slavi comes back to Bulgaria, where communism has collapsed. His beloved Nelly lives alone with her daughter. One day Slavi meets her again...

Three friends, Maro, Shpera and Yuri are unemployed and hardly make ends meet. They have complicated and hysterical relationships with the people closest to them. They seem to have emigrated from their families and their country. Provoked by a mysterious telephone call, they set out on a journey, filled with the hope to change their lives.

Teenage Koko lives in a nondescript town in Southern Bulgaria. His parents moved to Greece where the wages are higher, leaving Koko alone to care for his grandmother, an elderly and unwieldy woman with Alzheimer's. Koko is in love with Elena, an aspiring singer who seems only to care about a famous rock band scheduled to pass through town. On the night of the big event, the social fabric of the teens' provincial lives is thrown into disarray, paving the way for new constellations.
